Swollen feet leads to bed rest which then leads to inducing?!

Yep, that's right! Swollen feet, hands, and legs does mean there's something wrong. Kankles aren't normal! Last week when I went into the doctor he showed more concern that my feet, hands, and face had started to swell even more, my blood pressure was higher than normal and my occasional headaches are all signs of pregnancy induced hypertension. So with that he sent me to my room, on bedrest. I was looking forward to having an excuse to keep my feet elevated but didn't expect that bedrest could be sooo boring!!! I'm so glad I only had to do bedrest for 5 days instead of those who have to stay in bed for so much longer. I did get to catch up on all my tv shows which was fun, for a day. Because they were concerned I also got to do a couple stress tests hooked up to a bunch of monitors to make sure baby Ada was doing good. During the stress test she didn't want to wake up even after a juice box full of sugar, she stayed content as ever, asleep. So they had to take it to the next level with a buzzer right next to her head...one buzz and she went from 130 heart beat to a whopping 180, kicking all over inside. Woke her up for sure! Now I'll always know why she will hate buzzers! Once she was able to relax a little bit she was happier as ever still cuddled in my ribs, there clearly must be more room there then anywhere else she doesn't show any signs of wanting to drop. So, hopefully inducing labor will make her want to drop. Fingers crossed this doesn't turn into a c-section. I'm more than excited to know that tomorrow I will finally get to meet my little girl who's been growing inside of me for these past 38 weeks. I also thought I would post a picture of my feet, the middle foot is my moms and when I'm not pregnant a good idea of what my feet usually look like...WOOT WOOT for kankles! lol!!

Update on Baby Ada

So I figured I had a few short minutes to update my blog on Ada's progress. More for journal entry since I am terrible at recording personal history!

Last week I went in for my 34 week appt and the nail bitting, toe clenching, ok it's not that bad...Strep B test. At 34 weeks I was already dialated to a 1cm and 70% thinned out. He also mentioned that if I make it to Full Term and up to my due date that she could be 8-9lbs and therefore 'alternative measures to help get her out would be discussed.' Seems to me the only other alternative is a C-section, so praying she comes on her own before we reach that point.

This week at my 35 week appt I am still at a 1cm but now 80% thinned out, exciting since there's still progression coming along. Unfortunately I recieved a positive on the Strep B test. At the time the Dr. didn't seem to concerned as he said 1 in every 5 women are tested positive with Strep B. But after coming out of the dr appt I still had questions such as, could this have been prevented? How did I get it? How come I didn't know I had it? So after a lot of research I found a site that pretty much answered all my questions and I thought I'd post it here for those first time mom's or first time carriers of Strep B. http://pregnancy.about.com/od/groupbstrep/a/How-To-Protect-Your-Baby-From-Group-B-Strep-Gbs.htm

Seems like thank goodness for modern day medicine and the knowledge we have now that we can help limit the outcome of illness to our future babies. And it leaves me feeling at peace knowing that her outcomes of an illness are slim to none with recieving antibiotics...just not looking forward to the needle in my hand during labor! YUCK!

Either way I'm still excited for this new adventure and phase in my life. The anticipation of when she'll enter our lives and I can sleep on my tummy once again. :)

Precious Angel Inside

As the days get nearer I realize that there's still a lot of preperation, anticipation, excitement, and a little of fear. But as I can feel her move around inside my fear turns to joy. In the next 17 weeks I will be able to hold this precious angel inside.

CHINA!! Ni hao

I officially suck at this blog life...so to make up for that I have lots of pictures from our adventures in China. If you didn't know Quynn and I were invited to stay with my Dad who's lived in China for about 5 years now and to meet his super cute family. We had an amazing time walking the streets of Shenzhen. Exploring sites we had never seen before. Taking in the daily life as locals would. All while forming relationships with family we have grown to love more and more. Enjoy!
First stop, Tokyo Japan.

Meet the reason we came, Dad, Lin (mother), Linna (sister).

A Lot of time was spent traveling on the train. Cars are 3x's the amount they are here in the U.S. so public transportation is much cheaper. And after seeing how they drive over there much SAFER too!

Outside of a Monk temple
Street food was a favorite!

The following pictures are from the Dapeng Fortress, yes people actually still live in the fotress which was built in the 1300s. :)

Quynn feeling his inner warrior.

These two boys are from the Chinese Youth Opera. They asked for pictures with us because we were American, but they were way more famous then us! ;)

Streets of Hong Kong
Who wouldn't want to cook with this mixer!?

Not for the faint of heart, "Quynn, I don't think we're in Utah anymore". This was on the outside of an art institute. Good thing their feet were modestly covered. haha!

And to conclude our experience in China...the Cultural picture that sums up a day in the life of a hard working chinese Man.

Halloween 20's Style

Yep it's been quite awhile since I've blogged, so I figured I'd try to get back into the swing of things and post some pictures from Halloween.

Quynn and I got invited to our annual Murder Mystery Dinner. This year was 20's themed. Thanks to Chris and Davie who put on a fun and spooktastic party! Dinner was delicious and I wasn't the murder this year...YES! and I'm pretty impressed with the costumes we came up with from inside of our closet! :) The hat that Quynn's wearing was my great grandfathers hat which I inherited from my grandpa! I'm glad to see that they had about the same head size. ;)

Not to mention earlier that day we got to go Pumpking hunting for the first time. Much better and cheaper than going to your local grocery store! This will be a tradition for sure!

Hope everyone else had a great Halloween!

Friday night Forts!

"...become as a little child or you can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God."  -3Nephi 11:38

Sometimes taking scriptures too literally is the best thing for you!

*Friday night Forts will become a tradition in the home of the Udells as we raise our children! We'll be cool parents. ;) ha ha!

How much I miss this girl...

I wanted to post a little blog about one amazing girl! That would be...LINDSAY!
For those of you who don't know Lindsay I used to work with her. However she's more than just an old co worker she's like a sister to me (one day that will become permanent...hopefully). Today I was reminicing about the good ol' days as I was wishing I could hear her laugh down the hallway, eating Cafe Rio together at work, and telling stories about lifes valuable lessons. She helped me overcome personal struggles by just being Lindsay! She never had to say much I just knew she'd always listen. One of those people who is equally as beautiful inside and out! Today I got a phone call from Lindsay and it made my day! I can't wait to see her in August! Love ya Linds!
